Software Client: Vintage Circus Spectacular

Back to Case Studies

The brief

A well-known U.S. software company enlisted our help to create an immersive gala spectacular in one of London’s most iconic venues – Tobacco Dock. Working towards delivering an unusual British theme with stunning production and plenty of networking opportunities, our creative team let their imaginations run wild and came up with a twist on the original Great British Circus! Catering to over 2,500 discerning delegates, and working with a newly acquired client, it was time to pull out all the stops to transform Tobacco Dock into a true ‘Vintage Circus’!

The solution

Taking over the entire venue; Transforming a Grade 1 listed building into a fully immersive Circus experience is no mean feat.  From a design perspective, we focused heavily on integrating corporate branding with striking graphic installations, circus style draping and props to enhance the look and feel of every experience.  As a venue with many areas, we created different spaces to provide the backdrop with different activations. Our client’s brief emphasized the importance of creating plenty of networking opportunities, but with a creative twist. With that in mind, we utilised a central hub and surrounding rooms to offer different atmospheres and opportunities.  In ‘The Void’ we created the ‘Circus of Senses’, using experimental food and beverage activations to encourage conversation and networking.  Adjacent to this, the ‘Photo Parlour’ took the photo booth concept to another level, with an interactive backdrop allowing guests to dress up and capture memories of the evening with colleagues.  Alongside this, the ‘Acoustic Saloon’ offered a space to enjoy live acoustic acts, surrounded by interesting visual props.  Furthermore, fun and games were had within a Vintage Games alley or, even better, a full dodgems installation for guests to entertain themselves!

Alongside these various activations, a showcase of headline bands could be found in the ‘Circus Main Stage’, while the ‘Big Top’ housed lounge furniture and stages for a variety of contemporary circus performers which included tap dancers, side show performers, mirror men and illusionists.  Finally, and a highlight of the evening, a specifically choreographed ‘Greatest Showman’ vocal and dance performance offered the perfect climax, paving the way for the delegates to continue to dance into the night!

The verdict

From arrival to departure, guests were fully immersed in the ‘Vintage Circus’ theme.  With all of the above plus wandering acts, branded giveaways and festival food, the whole event was a resounding success with the client and their delegates citing it as their best event yet!  With the pressures of impressing a new client and keeping over 2,500 delegates happy, we couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out. Realising such heavy production and an engaging theme on top of the plethora of entertainment that required management so as to adhere to strict timings was essential for seamless execution.  We cannot wait to create something even more spectacular for their next event!
